Some things are beyond planning.
And life doesn’t always turn out as planned.
You don’t plan for a broken heart.
You don’t plan for an autistic child.
You don’t plan for spinsterhood.
You don’t plan for a lump in your breast.

You plan to be young forever.
You plan to climb the corporate ladder.
You plan to be rich and powerful.
You plan to be acclaimed and successful.
You plan to conquer the universe.
You plan to fall in love - and be loved forever.

You don’t plan to be sad.
You don’t plan to be hurt.
You don’t plan to be broke.
You don’t plan to be betrayed.
You don’t plan to be alone in this world.

Sometimes if you work hard enough, you can get what you want. But MOST times, what you want and what you get are two different things.

We, mortals, plan. But so does Allah (subhan wa ta'aala) in the heavens. Sometimes, it is difficult to understand Allah’s plans especially when His plans are not in consonance with ours .

Often, when He sends us crisis, we turn to Him in anger. True, we cannot choose what Allah wishes us to carry, but we can carry it with courage knowing that He will never abandon us nor send something we cannot cope with .

Sometimes, Allah breaks our spirit to save our soul.
Sometimes, He breaks our heart to make us whole.
Sometimes, He allows pain so we can be stronger.
Sometimes, Allah sends us failure so we can be humble.
Sometimes, He allows illness so we can take better care of ourselves.
And sometimes, Allah takes everything away from us so we can learn the value of everything He gave us

Make plans, but understand that we live by Allah’s grace.

Although they plan, Allah also plans. And Allah is the Best of Planners.

If someone would ask me who i want to be with?
I would simply say,
"someone who can understand that I'm not perfect".

Don't cry over the past, it's gone. Don't stress about the future, it hasn't arrived.  Live in the present and make it beautiful;-)

I'm glad my life isn't perfect, I'm proud that I make mistakes, I'm happy I have my problems in life... It reminds me I'm real, I'm human... I'm me.

Mengapa membaca al Qur’an ketika kita tak mengerti artinya?

Baru saja saya membaca sebuah tulisan pada secarik kertas yang tertempel pada dinding kantor teman saya. Sebuah tulisan tua dari internet. Mungkin sebagian pengunjung sudah pernah membacanya, namun merupakan temuan baru bagi saya. Judulnya adalah: Why do we read quran, even when we do not understand even a single arabic word? Sebuah tulisan indah yang amat menyentuh hati yang saya coba terjemahkan dengan judul di atas: Mengapa membaca al Qur’an ketika kita tak mengerti artinya?

Alkisah, hiduplah seorang muslim tua bersama seorang cucunya di sebuah pegunungan di bagian timur Kentucky, Amerika. Sang kakek biasa membaca Qur’an selepas sholat shubuh setiap hari. Sang cucu berusaha meniru setiap tingkah laku kakeknya.

Suatu hari, ia bertanya: “Kek! Aku berusaha membaca Qur’an seperti dirimu tetapi aku tidak mengertiisinya. Jikapun ada sedikit yang kupahami, ia akan terlupakan setiap kali aku menutup kitab itu. Lalu, apa gunanya aku membacanya?”

Dengan perlahan sang kakek membalikkan badan dan berhenti dari memasukkan batu bara ke dalam tungku pemasak. Ia menjawab: “Ambillah keranjang ini, bawalah ke sungai di bawah sana dan bawakan untukku sekeranjang air!”

Sang cucu membawa keranjang hitam penuh jelaga batu bara tersebut ke sungai dan mengambil air. Namun air itu telah habis menetes sebelum sampai ke rumah. Sang kakek tertawa dan meminta sang cucu agar mencobanya sekali lagi: “Mungkin engkau harus lebih cepat membawa airnya kemari.”

Sang cucu berusaha berlari, namun tetap saja air itu lebih cepat keluar dari keranjang sebelum sampai ke rumah. Dengan terengah-engah ia pun mengatakan kepada sang kakek bahwa tidak mungkin mengambil air dengan keranjang. Sebagai gantinya ia akan mengambil air dengan ember.

“Aku tidak perlu satu ember air, yang kuinginkan adalah sekeranjang air!” jawab sang kakek. “Kau saja yang kurang berusaha lebih keras,” timpal sang kakek sambil menyuruhnya mengambil air sekali lagi. Sang kakek pun pergi ke luar rumah untuk melihat usaha sang cucu.

Kali ini sang cucu sangat yakin bahwa tidak mungkin membawa air menggunakan keranjang. Namun ia berusaha memperlihatkan kepada sang kakek bahwa secepat apapun ia berlari, air itu akan habis keluar dari keranjang sebelum ia sampai ke rumah. Kejadian yang sama berulang. Sang cucu sampai kepada kakeknya dengan keranjang kosong. “Lihatlah Kek! Tidak ada gunanya membawa air dengan keranjang.” katanya.

“Jadi, kau pikir tidak ada gunanya?”, sang kakek balik bertanya. “Lihatlah keranjang itu!” pinta sang kakek.

Ketika sang cucu memperhatikan keranjang itu sadarlah ia bahwa kini keranjang hitam itu telah bersihdari jelaga, baik bagian luar maupun dalamnya, dan terlihat seperti keranjang baru.

“Cucuku, demikianlah yang terjadi ketika engkau membaca al Qur’an. Engkau mungkin tidak mengerti atau tidak bisa mengingat apa yang engkau baca darinya. Namun ketika engkau membacanya, engkau akan dibersihkan dan mengalami perubahan, luar maupun dalam. Itulah kekuasaan dan nikmat Allah kepada kita!”
